Youth for Peace - Challenges & chances of strengthening youth participation
There is increasingly recognition that the participation of young people in social, political and peace processes is crucial in order to maintain and promote peace. Yet, social, political and economic conditions, but also experiences of violence and conflict can be a hurdle to constructive and peaceful engagement of young people, particularly in polarized and conflict-affected countries of the Middle East. What do we know about those challenges, do we have the appropriate means to address them – and what advice can young people give us in this regard? What can we learn from practical experiences? What are recommendations for policymakers? This 14 December 2017, CSPPS German member FriEnt, together with BMZ and INEF will organize a workshop to reflect upon and discuss these questions. Peter van Sluijs, Coordinator CSPPS /Secretariat, together with Gizem Kilinç, Leading Coordinator at UNOY Peacebuilders, will give a presentation during this workshop [more information on this event will be shared here in due course].
