Symposium on Governance for Implementing the SDGs in Africa
Date: 11 to 13 December 2017
The United Nations Development Programme will host a Symposium on Governance for Implementing the Sustainable Commitments in Africa from 11th to 13th December 2017 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The Symposium will gather regional and international institutions, participants will include high level personalities, Academia, NGOs, Think Tanks, Private Sector and Civil Society representatives.
Symposium aims to discuss the following in various sessions: (i) Agenda 2030 and Agenda 2063 – what are the trigger changes for making their vision a reality? (ii) Adaptation of the 2030 and 2063 Agendas at the national level and the development of integrated policies to achieve the SDGs; (iii) Budgeting and financing the implementation of SDGs; (iv) Realizing the SDGs in societies in conflict and sustaining peace; (v) Mobilizing institutions and other actors – strengthening capacities and leadership; (vi) Reviewing implementation and Measuring Progress of the SDGs and (vii) Way forward. Mireille Kabasubabo, CSPPS Policy and Communications Officer, has been invited to represent the CSPPS in the Symposium to talk about SDGs implementation in Fragile contexts in Africa.
