Policy Influencing involves engaging decision-makers and institutional stakeholders to shape policies, frameworks, and funding priorities in the realm of SDG16, for peaceful, just, and inclusive societies. CSPPS continues to position itself as a credible interlocutor between civil society and multilateral actors, promoting locally led approaches and inclusive governance as central components of sustainable peace.

The 2030 Agenda
Adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development sets out 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a universal framework for advancing action for people, planet and prosperity and strengthening universal peace in larger freedom. SDG16 – Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels – is at the core of CSPPS’ mandate. As a platform, we see it as an enabler of the implementation of the wider 2030 Agenda. CSPPS engages in key global processes where progress on the 2030 Agenda is discussed, reviewed, and advanced.
Policy Brief & Call to Action
CSPPS develops policy briefs, position papers and calls to action to bring civil society perspectives and priorities into key policy debates on peacebuilding, conflict prevention, sustainable development and inclusive governance. Drawing on the experience and expertise of CSPPS members and partners, these publications provide analysis of pressing policy issues and put forward concrete recommendations for policymakers, donors and international actors.
The Youth, Peace and Security Agenda
The Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS) agenda was cemented into the multilateral system through the adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2250 in 2015. Followed by resolutions 2419 and 2535, this has crystallised the imperative of enhancing youth agency and leadership in maintaining and promoting peace and security. At the core of CSPPS' work, the YPS agenda remains a key priority, and CSPPS has supported youth-led and youth-focused initiatives promoting peace and conflict prevention through youth economic empowerment and peace education.
