Demystifying the Voluntary National Review

The Voluntary National Review is a unique opportunity for national governments to report voluntarily on progress and challenges in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at national and sub-national levels. In this context, civil society organisations have a key role to play in order to guarantee an inclusive process and a report that reflects the reality of the ground. However, it is not always clear how CSOs can engage in the VNR process, specifically when they are confronted to challenges such as restriction of civic space and political tensions.

For this reason, CSPPS and the TAP Network joined forces to create a two-pager entitled “Demystifying the Voluntary National Review”. This document aims at answering key questions such as : What is the VNR? Why is it important to include perspectives from civil society in the VNR process? How can CSOs engage in the VNR process? How can CSPPS and the TAP Network support the meaningful participation of CSOs in the VNR process both at the national and global levels?

Please do not hesitate to contact the CSPPS Secretariat at info@cspps.org for further information on the VNR.
